wd my passport wireless pro review
Bigger capacity and more efficient way to manage it.

My Passport Wireless Pro - Newest WD External Hard Drive
Good news for photographers, who are always happy to make backups, especially while on the go. The Western Digital (WD) have released new drive called My Passport Wireless Pro, which is an update of older model My Passport Wireless which was launched back in 2014.

Besides the updated design major changes are around file management, which is much more natural this time. Unlike the first model who automatically pulled all new photos from SD card, with the new Wireless Pro, you can wirelessly browse and choose which files you want to sync.

Like the previous My Passport Wireless model, the new version has an SD card slot and Wi-Fi.
You can import photos to the drive via Wi-Fi, once the images are on the drive, you can wirelessly connect to it with a laptop or tablet. After connecting to the drive, you can easily view and manage all data that's have been backed up on Wireless Pro.

Apple AirPort Time Capsule Review

Apple AirPort Time Capsule Review 2016

The AirPort Time Capsule is a network based storage device created by Apple. This wireless external hard drive can efficiently backup huge volumes of data stored on any or all computers within its range. Ideally, it is used together with Time Machine, the Mac OS X’s backup software program.

The Apple Time Capsule certainly has several positive attributes:
  • An eye-catching design
  • Better wireless capability for enhanced performance
However, it also lacks certain qualities that can leave users wanting for more. This is due to the limited number of enhancements from the earlier model.

The Apple Time Capsule is ideal for people who already have 802.11ac-enabled Macs. But advanced users may look for certain features like options for non-Mac platforms and the capacity for household media streaming.

Compared to other network attached storage devices (NAS), the Apple Time Capsule is admittedly pricier. Hence, the majority of customers who would likely purchase it either are looking for an upgrade or are simply have the money for it.

Buying the Apple Time Capsule as an upgrade is typical for Mac fans. However, purchasing one also makes a great gift idea especially if given to a fellow Mac enthusiast.

Alternatively, a user may opt for a cheaper network attached storage drive like the Seagate Go Flex Home. It is cheaper and can be used on either a Mac or PC. Non-Apple fans looking for a device with a similar price tag can seek out the QNAP TS-251.

HDD vs SSD

Basics of the HDD
HDD stands for a ‘hard disk drive'. There are a few thin rotating disks known as the ‘platters' inside it. The platter is coated with a thin film of magnetic material. There is a motor-driven-arm with a magnetic sensor on its tip on the surface of the plates. The data is encoded as tiny magnets on narrow plate tracks. Notice, that motor is designed with an excellent spatial accuracy. When the arm swings and the platter rotates, it can access every corner on the platter. The positioning accuracy is up to the one-thousandth thickness of a piece of paper. The magnetic head also needs to be in nanometer distance to the platter surface to sense these tiny bits. Due to these high precision designs, the HDD drive is sensitive to mechanic shocks. A simple fall-off from the desk may damage your HDD.

Why more and more people are choosing SSD instead of HDD?

With the prices of solid-state drives (SSDs) going down, more and more people are switching from their trusty old hard disk drives (HDDs) to SSDs. Here are the most common reasons why people make the switch:

Consistent Performance – Hard disk drives tend to slow down over time because of the fragmentation happening within the spinning platters. Solid-state drives have a different mechanism of writing and reading files, which doesn’t slow down the drive over time. This means that the speed of a solid-state drive the first time you buy it will be pretty much the same 5-10 years after.

The Top 3 - Fastest SSD

The Top 3 - Fastest SSD
With the slew of multitasking we do at present, we need our gadgets to be able to keep up with us. It is common for people to have games running on the background, playing music from their laptop, chatting on Facebook or googling, and writing a document all at the same time. To do all these things efficiently, our hard disk drives should be fast enough. Built-in computer hard-drives have limited capacities though.
Thus, installing the fastest SSD or even a mid-speed one can give an enormous performance boost to any computer.
Here, you can find three top recommendations for the fastest SSD and the lowdown on each brand.

Samsung SSD 850 Pro (Check Best Price)
Samsung SSD 850 Pro is consistently rated as the best, and truly one of the fastest SSD for gaming out there. The capacity can range from a minimum of 128 GB, to a maximum of 2 TB. This wide range of capacity is versatile - from personal home use to professional purposes. Most home users can make do with a 128 GB or 256 GB.
Samsung SSD 850 Pro actually gives the best value for money being the cheapest and also the best-performing fastest SSD. It reads data at a topnotch speed of 550 Mbps and writes data at 520 Mbps. Aside from its relatively cheaper price, Samsung is hassle-free in terms of use. It does not require any external NAND modules to be installed, since it is the first among its competition to have its own 3D V-NAND module. It runs on a SATA 3 interface.

SanDisk Extreme Pro (Check Best Price)
In terms of performance, SanDisk Extreme Pro is neck and neck with Samsung SSD 850 Pro as one of the fastest SSD. It also boasts of the same 550 Mbps read capacity and 520 Mbps write capacity. SanDisk though only offers storage from 248 GB to its maximum 960 GB. It also runs on SATA 3, but with additional features such as TRIM and SMART support that automatically frees up unallocated disk space making data storage efficient. It comes with a 10-year warranty as well.

OCZ Vector 150 (Toshiba) (Check Best Price)
Third among this list of the fastest SSD is the OCZ Vector 150. It actually has some of the best specifications among the fastest models out there, but perhaps due to Samsung and SanDisk being more popular, this choice is overlooked. It has a 550 Mbps read capacity and the fastest write capacity at 530 Mbps. It has a minimum of 120 GB storage and max of 480 GB.
Whichever of these featured fastest SSD you choose, you will surely see a great performance enhancement for your computer. Loading and launching times are cut much significantly enabling you to do more in the shortest times possible.

Which Is The Best SSD for Gaming?

best ssd for gaming

Solid-state drives (SSDs) are taking over almost every device; most of the tablets being released come with some kind of flash memory instead of the usual 500GB harddisk drive (HDD). SSDs have penetrated the business sector quite well, with their promise of faster read/write speeds and better reliability. If you’ve noticed, however, not a lot of gamers have made the switch to SSDs yet. Most of the time, the computers that come with SSDs are the ones that are underpowered and are more focused on portability than performance.

Best SSD for MacBook ProThe MacBook Pro is quite expensive, but it tends to pay for itself in the long run because of its durability. That being said, if your MacBook is starting to get too slow for the more modern apps and you do not have the budget to buy a new one, then apart from a RAM upgrade, a switch to an SSD is in order.

SSD Drives To Consider:

Before looking for the best SSD for MacBook Pro, you will first need to know whether or not your Mac is eligible for such an upgrade. The older MacBook Pro series are good candidates for upgrades, as they are often equipped with slow, 5400rpm hard drives. Newer MacBook Pro series, especially the ones with Retina display, however, often come equipped with SSDs and therefore do not need an upgrade.
