THE GOOD:
The drive is extremely fast, it looks good and includes very helpful seagate backup software. The drive also is BUS powered. Excellent choice for anyone.

THE BAD:
Users can not change internal hard drive. RAID 0 configuration by default, which result in higher risk of data loss.

Capacity and speed defines this External Hard Drive. The Seagate Backup Plus Fast performs at up to 2x the speed of other external hard drives, with transfer speeds up to 220 MB/s. Seagate Backup Plus fast is the speediest USB 3.0 external hard drive to date. Seagate achieved great speed and capacity by combining two internal hard drives on the inside in a RAID 0 configuration, effectively doubling both the performance and speed. The only drawback for this device is that RAID 0 has a bigger possibility of data loss than RAID 1. Because on RAID 1 configuration, if anything happens to one internal hard drive, there will be no data loss on the second one. But with RAID 0 configuration both internal hard drives are more ”related to each other”, and if anything happens to one of them, then data will be lost on both internal hard drives. The Seagate Backup Plus Fast is very thick, at 0,8 inch, it is almost twice as thick as other external hard drives. But there is a reason! It is the first external hard drive i have seen that houses two internal hard drive, stacked one on top of the other. Both internal hard drives are combined together as one volume in a RAID 0 configuration, to achieve great trasnfer speeds. That makes Seagate Backup Plus Fast one of the fastest external hard drive on the market at the moment.
The drive is very thick and portable at the same time, because it is narrower and slightly shorter than other portable drives. Great advantage is that this drive still is USB powered, it has standart micro USB 3.0 port. You will get Backup Plus fast with two USB 3.0 cables, one standart cable as casual and other Y shaped cable. The second Y-shaped USB cable can be used in two USB ports at the same time. The other cable is only needed when You use Backup Plus Fast with a computer that can not provide enough power. In our testings we didn`t need to use the Y shaped cable, buy maybe You will need it, if You use the drive with pretty old Laptops.

The drive comes formatted in the NTFS file system, it will work with all Windows machines and also with Mac computers. Mac computers can read and write to the drive without reformatting. But if You want, You can reformat this drive into NFS+.
How to use Seagate Backup Plus Fast? It is very easy, just take the drive out of the box, plug into You PC, wait a few sec until computer finds the drive, and You are ready to work. After seagate backup plus review, we can say that the performance is amazing. Seagate backup plus speed is stunning. Up to 230 MB/s reading speed, and write speed up to 220 MB/s. Of course these speeds are only via USB 3.0 port. These are the highiest transfer speeds i ever have seen in external hard drives. Only one external hard drive have registered highier speeds – Elgato Thunderbolt drive+ , but there is a reason. Elgato Thunderbolt drive+ is SSD drive, which means it is much more expensive and maximum capacity is only 512GB. Casual drives and SSD drives are completely different story. With USB 2.0 port, both writing and reading speed is about 30 MB/s, which is almost the same via all USB 2.0. We have to menton that Seagate Backup Plus Fast works very silently, emitting no vibration or heat. You can see the test results below.
